My Story

My name is Sam Lower and I founded The Paw’s Post. I started this project after attending a therapeutic wilderness  program where there was a therapy dog named Baxter. Bax would walk the property handing out love to everyone he met. There was no question that the dog brightened everyone's day. At the program I was struggling with my mental health and Baxter inspired me to accept help at times when it felt overwhelming. The way Baxter made me feel that day was what inspired The Paw’s Post two years after graduating from the program. My design combines a paw print and part of a semicolon, which is a symbol for suicide awareness often used by authors to continue a sentence, rather than ending it with a period. My goal for the jewelry I handcraft is to bring awareness to mental health and the role our animals play in helping us with those struggles.
